DAVID MINAŘÍK, Czech Republic

David Minařík (born 1985) is a Czech painter, who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in May 2017.

In the works of David Minařík the processual emergence of painting is explored. From the first brushstrokes on the canvas until the final work emerges, Minařík evokes a focus on perception and non-perception in relation to the creation of art.

Minařík established his artistic practice during adolescent trips to Fontainebleau, France, where he began to struggle with the complex representation of natural light in non-figurative painting in plein-air.

Minařík diverts from a classical conceptual approach to fine arts with a philosophical-ideological counterpart to today’s ‘image-focused’ world. Drawing on the poststructuralist theory of Gilles Deleuze, Minařík conveys the phenomenological emergence of art instead of its static being as a finished product.

Order and chaos individually determines Minařík’s artistic intuition flavored with an educated understanding of classical expression. This mixture matures into motives of solid contours, uncertain existence and frustration.

David Minařík studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 2014 to 2017 and has exhibited at Q in Copenhagen and at Kunsthalle M3 in Berlin. Today he commutes between Copenhagen and Moravia, Czech Republic, where he works.
